How does a bailey bridge work?
1. Install the nose bridge
Before assembling the Bailey bridge, you must first install the nose frame. The installation method is as follows: first assemble the Bailey truss on the rock that is pushed out of the shore. Put one end of the truss on the rock and place the other end on the temporary skid.
2. Install the first truss piece
The male and female heads of the truss pieces must be the same. Place the first beam behind the front vertical rod, and insert the two rows of holes in the bottom surface of the beam into the studs on the bottom chord beam backing plate of the two truss pieces, and clamp them with the beam clamp. Do not tighten it, and tighten it after the diagonal brace on the beam is installed.
3. Install the second truss piece
The beret shall be installed with diagonal bracing on the truss beam of the previous section. Install a crossbeam behind the vertical rod at the front end of the second truss, gently clamp it with a crossbeam clamp, do not tighten it temporarily, and tighten it after the diagonal brace on the crossbeam is installed.
4. Install the third section of the truss
And install wind-resistant tie rods on the first section of the truss section, and install diagonal braces on the second section of the truss section beam. The nose bridge is installed in a cycle, and a total of four truss pieces need to be installed as the nose bridge.
5. Traction
The bridge has introduced a winch towing. During the towing process, unified command, consistent steps, and coordinated operations are required. The operation of the rollers and the bridge should be checked at any time. If one is found, the operation should be stopped immediately and the drive will continue after the problem is resolved.
6. Remove the nose bridge
After pushing the bridge to a certain position, remove the nose bridge, use a jack to support the lower chord of the bridge to seat, check the beret and tighten all the support frames, beam clamps and wind resistance rods.
7. Cladding
Finally, the longitudinal beams, bridge decks, steel plates, etc. are laid.
